Grevillea leptobotrys “Lilac Tangles” grafted

Grevillea leptobotrys Lilac Tangleis a low growing and sprawling Australian native shrub with wiry, much divided, grey-green leaves  and pretty mauve-pink flowers for much of the year. The plant spreads from 1-3 m wide.  Always buy a grafted plant as they are not long-lived on their own roots.

Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” flowers on mass from spring into autumn. It looks great as a small specimen shrub, planted as a group, or mixed amongst other garden plants. It is a wonderful habitat plant with bees swarming to this delightful plant thought out the flowering and the tight compact foliage making an excellent refuge for small birds, lizards and other small marsupials. The intricate tangled silver foliage is an added bonus on the occasion that the plant is not in flower.

Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” grows and flowers best in a well drained soil in a full sun position. If the soil is poorly drained a raised garden bed is recommended. Alternatively Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” makes an excellent large pot specimen using a premium Australian native potting mix.

Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” is a hardy plant tolerating extended dry periods and heavy frost. After establishment in the ground, Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” requires no additional watering.

Grevillea “Lilac Tangles” is grafted onto a hardy rootstock for added vigour. As with all grafted plants, any shoots coming from below the graft union should be cut back flush with the stem.
