Orthrosanthus multiflorus “Icicle”

“Icicle” is a small strappy leafed Aussie grass with iceberg white coloured flowers held on tall spikes atop the soft green foliage of the plant. It is an adaptable species mass flowering though out late winter and spring. Native bees and butterflies find this wonderful plant hard to resist and congregate en masse though out the flowering season.

“Icicle” looks great planted out amongst other annuals and perennials as a border plant, or makes an excellent pot specimen using a premium Australian native potting mix. Plant with Orthrosanthus multiflorus “Blue Hue” for a wonderful contrast in flower colour of blue and white.

“Icicle” grows and flowers best in a well drained soil in a full sun position. If the soil is poorly drained a raised garden bed is recommended. “Icicle” will benefit from an annual prune after flowering of spent flower spikes to encourage a denser growth habit and more prolific flowering the following year.

“Icicle” is a hardy plant tolerating extended dry periods and frosty conditions. After establishment in the ground “Icicle” requires very little extra watering.
